Saturday Follow-Up

Saw a patient for Post-Op follow-up Saturday.  It was a typical hairline case with no grafts popping overnight!  Good follow-up care should always involve the patient, and making sure they understand why you are having them take the post-op precautions seriously.  This patient did everything I asked of him, and it showed the next day.  Let's hope today's patient does the same. 

Great Case Today!

Had a great case today where we restored the hairline on a female with traction alopecia.  These are fun cases for the staff because the hairline is what "frames the face" and restoring the hairline gives a much more youthful look.  Most hairlines can be done with around a thousand one hair and two haired grafts.  We always have patients come in the next day so I can make sure the grafts all stay in place overnight, so I will see her Saturday morning.  I love these cases.

African American Hair Surgery

We are preparing an African Amercian surgery case today.  These are special cases that require a lot of time and patience, since African American hair follicles are to so curly. (see right)  The results of these cases are great in that this type of hair "covers ground" so well.  In any case, we seem to be doing more of these cases as the word gets out.

Follow-Up

Saw the patient at right for follow-up after surgery.  We don't do surgery on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and I look forward to these days so we can see patients like this for photos.  Sometimes I think photos are our business and we do hair surgery on the side!

But this is a good example of follicular unit hair transplantation, done here in our clinic outside Charleston, South Carolina.

First Day

Today is the first day of my professional blog.  We are a surgical hair restoration clinic located just outside the beautiful city of Charleston, South Carolina.  We do surgery for both male and female hair loss, and specialize in follicular unit hair transplantation. 

My name is Michael Vories, MD, and I am a graduate of the University of Kentucky College of Medicine.  I am a proud member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery and the only Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery in South Carolina.

About half of our patients come from the Charleston metro area.  The other half comes mostly from Columbia, Anderson, Greenville, Spartanburg, Myrtle Beach, Hilton Head, and Florence, South Carolina.  We get a few patients from Charlotte, NC, and Savannah, GA.  Our patient that traveled the farthest came from mainland China! (He is a South Carolina native, however).

Starting tomorrow, I will be posting on this blog my different viewpoints on hair loss and hair transplantation.
